Fall is the best season of the year. The kiddos pack their lunch boxes and head back to school, the scorching summer heat dwindles into a cool breeze and — my favorite part — the sky fills with trees that emulate flames, painted with bold reds, warm oranges and friendly yellows. Before the bitter temperatures and fresh blanket of snow take hold, lace up your walking boots and head out to one of these deciduous tree laden destinations that will take your breath away. I bet you can already hear the leaves crunching beneath your feet!
Vermont and fall foliage go hand-in-hand. The state’s old time charm paired with views of the Green Mountains is unbeatable during the short-lived transition from summer to winter. Route 100, which winds north to south through the state, is a popular choice of transportation for travelers who prefer to take it all in from the comfort of their cars.
