When I was looking to stay in a smaller hotel in Aruba, Amsterdam Manor Beach Resort was the perfect fit for my 8 year old son and me. When we arrived at the hotel we were met with smiles and friendly service. Napoleon at the front desk was so helpful! Great way to start a vacation! After getting settled in our suite, which had a full kitchen and everything we could possibly need, including an ocean view, we were ready to relax, Aruba style.
At first I wasn’t sure about staying “across the street” from the beach, but when I got there and saw the road, I knew it was not going be any trouble at all. The street is small, not busy and the Aruban drivers are very courteous. Piece of cake. Our room was probably closer to the beach than if we stayed in a beachfront property in the high-rise area. And this resort was perfect for us. Lots of other families and kids for my son to play with. My son enjoyed the kid’s pool and also the big pool with the waterfall.
There’s so much to do in and around the Amsterdam Manor. It’s only a short drive to downtown Oranjestad and the Palm Beach Strip. Both areas have tons of shopping, restaurants, and entertainment venues for all to enjoy. I especially enjoyed the Palm Beach Plaza shopping area and Madame Janette’s restaurant. The concierge, Mayra, in the hotel lobby helped us decide what were the most important “must-sees” of the island. Delta Vacations recommends De Palm Tours for safe and reliable tours. They were fantastic! We also rented a Jeep and toured on our own. With just my son and I we felt very comfortable and safe in Aruba. It’s very easy to get around the island, and surprisingly we never got lost.
When staying at the Amsterdam Manor, be sure to eat at their restaurants – Mango’s and Passions on the Beach. Diane was our server at Passions and was fantastic! Gave great recommendations on food and service was second to none. Teresa at Mango’s was also really fun. Great dining experiences all around. They also have twice daily happy hours at the Sundeck Upper-Deck bar. The bartender is fabulous and kept us entertained.
With the great and friendly service and perfect location, it’s not hard to believe they have so many repeat guests. We were surrounded by them! Loved Amsterdam Manor Beach Resort and can’t wait to go back again.
