It’s the season of giving… and the season of skiing! Time again to start planning a ski vacation.
Are you looking for the best places to ski this year? The best powder, the highest peak, the most fun, or the most snow?
While I can’t give you a predicted snow report, I can give you some recommendations. Here are a few of my favorite ski resorts and mountains:
- Squaw Valley – Nevada/California
Lake Tahoe is heaven on earth! There are many ski resorts surrounding Lake Tahoe, but, my favorite is Squaw Valley. It has some of the best skiing and then there is Teton Village, a place to shop, eat, and relax. It’s my top pick for skiing, but also because Lake Tahoe is one of the most beautiful places on the west coast (in my opinion).
- Jackson Hole – Wyoming
Another awesome ski destination is Jackson Hole, known to be one of the top advanced ski terrains. I love Jackson for the nightlife, mountain-top dining, and all around western air of laid-back fun! Don’t let the word “expert” scare you away, Jackson Hole has some of the best ski instructors, lessons, and ski slopes for all experience levels.
- Snowbird – Utah
Want to see some tall mountains?! Snowbird’s highest peak is 11,000 feet in elevation. I once attended a conference that took us to Snowbird. I spent an afternoon with a new colleague, teaching her to ski. We took the tram to the top, had lunch, and enjoyed the view in the sun. The plan was for her to take the tram down while I skied but, we found a less challenging route for her to ski down as well. I probably said, “You can do it” more than 50 times, but she did great! Snowbird Mountain was a lot of fun!
There are so many great mountains to ski in the USA. Whether you are an expert, beginner or anywhere in between, a ski vacation can be fun for everyone when the mountain resorts offer so many activities.
