First, overall we absolutely loved Marival Residences & World Spa in Riviera Nayarit, Mexico. We really liked that we could use the amenities over at the Marival Resort & Suites Nuevo Vallarta right next door because we stayed at the Marival Residences. We went there each day to go to the gym, and a couple of nights to go to the nightclub and one of the restaurants, but for the most part we stayed at Marival Residences & World Spa because we loved it so much. It was very easy to take the golf cart between the two properties– never waited more than 5 min, and the ride took all of 2-3 min. We also went to the VIP beach club area (just for Residences guests) at Marival Resort & Suites one day, which was great.
The food at the Marival Residences was excellent. It did not have any of that “cafeteria/all inclusive” feel that you can get at other resorts.
The service at the Residences (not just the restaurants, but everywhere) was top notch. This might be because they are not that busy yet (though they did seem to get kind of busy on Sunday). I thought the service, and the whole quality of the experience was exceptional. There was LOTS of staff everywhere. We loved the classy feel of the rooftop bar/restaurant and hung out there every evening. The guy who “ran” that place (sort of the Maitre de I guess) was great. The wine bar was really cool too with great ambiance. Although, the bartender had to hunt down a corkscrew one night, we thought that was humorous.
The main pool was heated, and was great to swim in. The one on our deck was not heated, and was pretty cold, though refreshing when it started to get hot out.
Despite not being “on the water”, it sure felt like we were. Every room above the first floor has a beautiful ocean view, and you can hear the waves crashing when you sleep at night if you leave your patio door open. Here is a view from our room – pretty nice for not being right on the beach!
My brother-in-law and his wife both said it was the nicest place they had ever stayed in their lives. They’ve stayed at some of the best resorts in Hawaii and Costa Rica, so that is saying something.
While we were there the spa was not open yet due to renovations but they were accommodating enough that they had temporarily set up in a hotel room…after all it was Valentines day and I wanted to get my wife a massage and the message was excellent.
We also golfed one day as part of the free golf promotion they had going on (at $49 for a cart fee, and $20 each way for a cab ride, it wasn’t truly “free’, but a great deal nonetheless), and did both the dolphin and sea lion experience. GREAT deals – I can’t believe they offer this for free!
I would go back again in a second without hesitation. In fact, I was tempted to look into buying a unit it was so nice.
Someday we will go back long enough to actually visit downtown (we still never have – too much to do at the hotel!). If you are looking to go on a Riviera Nayarit vacation, I highly recommend the Marival Residences.
